Reading Incentive Programs

Summer reading

Many businesses and organizations offer summer reading incentive programs. They offer prizes, rewards, and even money to read books. Most ask students to keep a reading log or something similar. Details are available at the links below.

Phelps Elementary Summer Literacy Challenge

Dear Phelps Elementary School Families,

We are kicking the summer off with a school-wide Summer Literacy Challenge! This year we will have a pirate theme!

Over the summer, enjoy reading books to fill up your treasure map, which will lead you to the treasure chest. As you read, color in the books on the map, then record the title of your book on the book tracker and rate it using the pirate coins.

At the beginning of the school year, return your completed treasure map and book tracker to your teacher. Each student who turns in their treasure map and book tracker will win a small prize from the Phelps School treasure chest. Additionally, all students who turn in their completed summer reading will be entered into a raffle to win bigger prizes!

Lastly, the class who turns in the most summer reading will earn a class prize!

Don’t forget about all the great resources available at the Rockland Memorial Library. Their facebook page is the best way to find updated events.

Get excited to READ all summer long!!!

Sincerely,
