Dear Rockland Public School Community,
I am writing with an update on the status of the Rockland Public Schools and the power outage Rockland continues to experience. At the time I am writing this note, the majority of Rockland remains without power. National Grid reports they hope to restore Rockland’s power by midnight tonight. We are hopeful power will be restored and we will be able to open schools tomorrow, but we are still unsure. Chief Duffy is in regular contact with National Grid and we are hopeful we will have more definitive information shortly.
Our schools are ready to open as soon as power is restored. Mark Shom and our maintenance and custodial staff have each of our buildings and parking lots cleared and ready to open and Dave Taylor and the highway department are busy clearing debris from Rockland streets.
Regarding the status of school tomorrow, Friday, October 29, I will communicate with you no later than 5:30 am tomorrow (10/29) to let you know whether or not power has been restored and whether or not our schools will reopen for students tomorrow.
Thank you!
Alan Cron, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
