About Jefferson Elementary School
Jefferson Elementary School is truly a neighborhood school. Jefferson families are a valuable part of our school community. Our families enjoy participating in our many school-wide events. The school serves students in kindergarten through grade 4. Currently, our student population is approximately 290 students, with three classrooms at every grade level, except kindergarten, where there are four classrooms. Jefferson School students participate in Fundations lessons for phonics instruction, Reading and Writing Workshop for literacy instruction, and Math Workshop using the Envisions Math curriculum. Science and social studies curriculum is integrated into literacy, writing, and math, with weekly opportunities for science and social studies hands-on experiences. Our students receive weekly instruction in physical education, art, music, and computer/technology. Grade three and four students engage in STEM instruction weekly, as well. Students at Jefferson enjoy two recess periods daily, one in the morning at student arrival, and one in the afternoon, before or after lunch. Jefferson has many opportunities for after school enrichment programs such as Art, Cribbage Club, Chess Club, Kindergarten Music & Games Club, and more! Before (for kindergarten) and After School Daycare (K-4) is available at the Jefferson Elementary School. We have an active Parent Advisory Council (PAC) which meets the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30-7:30 pm to plan exciting enrichment events for our students. Child care is provided. We invite you to be a part of our lively and engaging school community!
