September 19th, 2019, was a truly remarkable day at RMS. The entire school participated in a one book, one school discussion. Students met with staff members, some familiar and some not yet known, to discuss the amazing journey of Salva Dut.
When asked about the A Long Walk to Water book discussions, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Leo, grade 7, said, "I think it was a lot of fun having kids read the book- sort of like a book club. It helped me understand it better." Katelyn, grade 8, and Josh, grade 5, both agreed the groups were helpful and they "learned stuff from other kids." Rachel, grade 7, said, "it was good to hear the different opinions of students." Mackenzie, grade 7, said, "I loved the group I was in because it was a really great conversation and we were able to connect over Salva's story."
Below are images from discussions as well as the incredible and thought provoking posters RMS students created.
