RHS COMMUNITY WEEKLY UPDATE #29

March 22, 2019

Here are a few highlights from this past week:

  • Congratulations to Justin Pendleton  for being this week’s Top Dog! Here is his biography.

  • The Nets for Nets tournament was held on Tuesday, March 19th. 16 teams competed for the championship. The Veritas covered the event, and this article includes some great pictures. Congratulations to John Ellard, Mr. Devine, and Ms. Gray for being the winning team! Here is a group picture of the champions! Hannah Murphy, Derek Williams, and Mr. Kimball came in second place. Here is their group picture.

  • Congratulations to RHS senior, Jailene Escalera for receiving a $500 scholarship for her pen & ink drawing “Garden Of Eden.” Thank you to Remax in Norwell and the South Shore Youth Foundation for sponsoring the student exhibit. Here is a picture of Jailene’s artwork. The local newspaper, Wicked Norwell, published an article here.

  • On Wednesday, March 20th, the guidance staff held a scholarship assembly with seniors. Here is the presentation.  All seniors were given a packet, which includes: scholarship instructions, a list of available scholarships, and the Rockland scholarship application. There are 4 scholarships that require different applications – they are available in guidance. The deadline to submit all scholarship applications is Wednesday, April 10th at 3:00 p.m.  There are no exceptions to this deadline.

  • Congratulations to our varsity cheerleaders for winning the Division 4 New England Regional Championship on Saturday, March 16th at Worcester State University. What an incredible season! Here are a nice group picture and videos of their performance.

  • The local newspaper, Wicked Rockland, put forth a newspaper article covering last week’s outstanding Broadway Night.  In case you missed it, click here to read the article.
  • Mr. Devine accompanied seniors Tyler Beatrice and Caitlin Cameron who were awarded a scholarship from the Reuben and Lizzie Grossman Foundation of $750 each. Caitlin and Tyler had a chance to join other recipients across the South Shore for a nice reception honoring these outstanding seniors. Here is their picture.

  • Congratulations to all of the winter athletes recognized at the sports banquet Wednesday evening. Also, a special thank you to all of our coaches for their hard work and the parents and bulldog nation for their support!

  • Spring Sports started this week. It was nice to see the weather cooperating, and the kids enjoyed being outside. Our girl’s tennis team is ready for another great season. Here is a picture of the team at their first practice of the season!  Happy Spring :)! Click here for the Spring Sports schedule.  We hope to see you supporting our student- athletes this season!
