During the month of September, Guidance counselors visited classrooms to go over several key items within their curriculum. Below is a summary:
Grade 9 – Introduced Guidance staff, reviewed graduation requirements and stressed the importance of getting involved. Several seniors attended each freshman class, sharing words of wisdom based on their own high school experiences. Counselors also reviewed how GPA is calculated and played the GPA game, which demonstrates how things other than GPA factor into college admissions.
Grade 10 – Reviewed upcoming PSAT exam, graduation and National Honor Society requirements, HOBY/MASS Star leadership conferences for sophomores and GPA. Students completed an extra-curricular survey as well as a Career Interest Inventory on Naviance.
Grade 11 – Counselors reviewed upcoming PSAT, graduation and National Honor Society requirements and began talking about future planning. Counselors reviewed post-secondary options and had students fill out an interest sheet in preparation for individual future planning meetings.
