MRSA Information
Rockland Public Schools recognizes the importance of maintaining a safe environment for our students, here are some helpful hints with regard to MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus):
Keep cuts and scrapes clean and cover them with a bandage, and avoid contact with other people's wounds.
Keep your skin healthy, avoid allowing skin to become dry, and cracked. Healthy skin helps keep bacteria such as staph or MRSA, which is on your skin from causing an infection underneath your skin.
Keep your hands clean by washing them frequently with soap, water, or hand sanitizer, especially after direct contact with another person's skin.
Do not share personal items such as towels, washcloths, toothbrushes and razors. These items might transfer bacteria from one person to another.
The easiest and best prevention of infection is simply to WASH YOUR HANDS. Wash often with warm water and soap to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Please visit your doctor if you have any questions or develop any infections that do not improve.
