RHS Students Recognized as South Shore League Scholar Athletes

On May 9th, the South Shore League held the 8th annual South Shore League Scholar-Athlete Night. Each school in the South Shore League selects two students to attend a dinner and special ceremony at the Southers Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth, MA. Congratulations to Lily Matson and Matthew O’brien for being selected to represent Rockland High School as this year’s South Shore League Scholar Athletes.

During her time at RHS, Lily participated in volleyball and track and field. Lily has been recognized as a South Shore League All-Star and Brockton Enterprise All-Star. She has been both captain in volleyball and track. A National Honor Society student who has earned recognition as an AP Scholar her junior year, Lily is ranked in the top 10% of her class. Lily will attend Colby College to run track and to study finance.

Matthew O’Brien participated on the soccer, hockey, and lacrosse teams this year. Matty served as a captain in both hockey and lacrosse. Matty has been recognized as a South Shore League All-Star and Brockton Enterprise All-Star. A National Honor Society student, Matthew is ranked in the top 10% of his class. Matthew will attend Bentley University to major in marketing or statistics and play lacrosse.
