Junior John Ellard Qualifies to Receive Recognition in 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program

On April 10, 2018, Rockland High School learned that Junior John Ellard qualified to receive recognition in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.  John took the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October during school with his peers in both Grade 10 and Grade 11. John’s strong performance qualified him to enter the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. This is a huge accomplishment for John as he is one of the 50,000 highest scoring participants out of the 1.6 million test takers. In other words, John scored in the top 3% which is extraordinary!

From the 50,000 top scorers across the United States, approximately 16,000 will be named National Merit Program Semifinalists. The other 34,000 students will be recognized for their high performance on the PSAT/NMSQT assessment.  John will be notified in September on whether he has been selected as a semifinalist.

Please join Rockland High School in congratulating John on his continued academic success and we wish him luck as he moves into the next round. For more information, please click here.
