RMS Makes a Global Difference

Our One Book One School selection for the summer of 2015 was the novel A Long Walk to Water by
Linda Sue Park. The story gave the real life story on Salva Dut, one eleven year old boy who escaped
the atrocities of civil war in South Sudan. He was one the Lost Boys of Sudan who was eventually
relocated to America. In later years, Salva began Water for South Sudan, an organization which provides
resources to drill wells to bring clean water to rural African villages. During that fall, our school
participated in a walk-a-thon fundraising event and raised an impressive $6300 for the organization!

Water for South Sudan recently notified us to relate the exciting news that the well sponsored by Rogers
Middle School has been completed! Thank you to everyone who helped us to make a difference.
